Note

  1. It shall be prerogative of the examiners to decide on pattern(s).
  2. Technique demonstration shall be performed in the fellow manner:
    • Start from ‘kyorugi chunbi’ position facing the examiner;
    • Execute technique towards the direction of the examiner that is, A to B;
    • Move forward with each kick;
    • Maintain ‘kyorugi chunbi’ position after each kick;
    • Turn to face the opposite direction after the first series of kicks and adopt ‘kyorugi chunbi’ position;
    • Execute technique in that direction – that is, B to A;
    • Maintain ‘kyorugi chunbi’ position after each kick;
    • Turn to face the examiner after the second series of kicks and take up ‘Kyorugi chunbi’ position;
    • Each step will be done according to command.
  3. Candidates are required to demonstrate only hand techniques.
  4. Candidates need to show only leg counter-attack techniques.
  5. One candidate shall assume the role of an attacker while his partner takes the part of a defender.
    Both candidates will adopt the ‘kyorugi chunbi’ position and face each other.  The attacker will first execute a front kick and the defender shall demonstrate his ability to handle the move with an appropriate counter-attack.

    Both the attacker and the defender shall return to ‘kyorugi chunbi’ position on completion of the action. The attacker will then proceed with the next technique.
    The mandatory kicks, which shall be executed with the right leg and in the order they are given, are:

    The defender shall adjust his position according to the attacker.

    After the candidates have done their respective parts, they will switch roles.

  8. Candidates will be given one minute to perform the imaginary sparring. They will be required to demonstrate a variety of kicking and punching techniques and footwork.
  9. A handmitt will be used as a target. Candidates will be required to kick twice – once each with the left and right legs.
  10. Two handmitts will be held by an assistant. Candidates will kick or punch the target accordingly.
  11. Candidates will be required to kick or punch a handmitt while moving backwards.
  12. This requirement is similar to the 1-step sparring assessment at the lower grade except the kicks are not predetermined. The attacker has the liberty to employ whatever techniques he likes. Please see explanatory note number 5.
  13. Four (4) handmitts will be placed at various positions which will be decided by the examiner. Candidates shall use the right kicking techniques to hit the targets.
  14. The test will comprise ten general questions on Taekwondo and its development.
